Recap of 2006-2007

July 2006 is where this book begins,
On July 26th 2006, we packed up the U-haul and said goodbye to Utah. We decided to move back to Kansas. We didn't want to raise our family in a big town and we both thought it was important that I quit working and started being a stay at home mom. So we packed up everything and moved to Kansas. We stayed with Rob's parents for the first few months while he searched for a job. He was hired by the Red Cross and we were able to buy a home in November. Here is our story.........

August 2006
Anika started her first day of pre-school at St. Andrews. I can’t believe she is old enough for school. At first it was hard letting her go, but as school went on, and I grew bigger and bigger with the twins, it was nice having a couple hours every week to relax and do nothing! I know Anika enjoyed going to school and getting away from boring mom.

September 2006
Anika took little Cheer Camp and cheered at the first home High School football game. She wants to be a KSU cheerleader when she gets older…she’s so cute!

December 1, 2006
Welcome Zoe Nichole and Zander Robert into our family! What an exciting, scary day!
December 1st, 36 weeks along. I was in Anika’s room cleaning (when I was instructed by Dr. Biggs to be on complete bed rest) and my water broke. Rob had just got home from work, so we raced to the hospital. I remember feeling so scared. This was my first C-section and I didn’t know what to expect. I was in good hands though. As soon as I saw Dr. Biggs I knew everything was going to be ok and I felt calm. Rob was able to be on the other side of the blue curtain and got to see their birth. We had 3 other doctors there to help with the babies. Each one was perfect! Zoe weighed 5lb 3oz, and Zander weighed 4lb 13oz. Anika came to the hospital with us, and then stayed the night with Aunt Joycelyn. We had bought her twin baby dolls to help with the changes that would come with two new babies. She was so excited to hold them. What a wonderful blessing they are in our lives!

10 days old
We washed Zoe's hair for the first time, and look what happened. So funny!!

Christmas 2006
Anika and I decorated cookies for Santa, Dad got a K-state football helmet for Christmas and Zander had to try it on for size. We had a great christmas!

January 2007
One month old. I think Rob and I are both zombies…. I live in dirty t-shirts. Anika has been a huge help. She even helps feed the twins since they both seem to get hungry at the same time. We sit on the floor together and I have both the twins in my lap. I hold one bottle and Anika holds the other. During the night between the swings and the vacuum I do get a little rest. The twins will be crying and upset….but the moment I turn on the vacuum they calm right down.

March 2007
The twins are three months old!

Zoe and Zander are so much fun. I just wish they would sleep during the nights. I am up a lot feeding them. I try to let Rob sleep as much as possible since he has to be up for work sometimes as early as 4am! Their little personalities are starting to show and they smile all the time. Anika loves being a big sister. We went to Sears to get their pictures taken.

April 2007
Zoe and Zander are 4 months old. They were blessed in our home on 10th street by their father on April 07-07. Grandma and Grandpa Barker and Kelsee, Kirk, Krista & Rhett came from Idaho, and all of Rob’s family joined us for this special day. We were going to bless them at our church in Salina, however, a few weeks before Zoe and Zander both got really sick and Zoe was hospitalized with pneumonia. What a scary, hard time. They both got better and it made me realize how blessed and thankful I am to have healthy children. The blessings were beautiful, and I think having them blessed in our home made the day more memorable.

Just some random shots of the kids.

July 07
The twins are 7 months old and Anika is 4. Aunt Kristen and Aunt Kallie came to visit. We had such a good time! I love my sisters. We really didn’t get to do a very much since the twins were so young still. But I think it was great birth control for Kallie and Kristen…lol

Halloween 2007
Anika is 4 and wanted to be a princess….again. So we used the dress from the year before and bought a crown and earrings for her. She is such a girly girl. We wanted something easy and warm for the twins, so Zander is Blue’s clues, and Zoe is a kitty.

Christmas seemed to come and go so fast this year. We were able to spend Christmas eve at Gramdma and Grandpa Cox's. All of Rob's family was there. Anika could hardly wait for Santa to come. Zander and Zoe didn't have a clue what was going on. They just liked to take all the decorations off the tree and put them in their mouths. The best part of christmas for mom and dad was taking the tree down on christmas day!
